Opaque / Translucent (white) film

Additional Installation Instructions

use in conjunction with existing film installation instructions on website

----------------------

As this film has a pressure sensitive adhesive (like packaging tape), it is quite 'grabby', so you should use a slightly stronger mix of water and 'baby shampoo' - 1 and bit capfuls (coke bottle cap or similar) of shampoo to a 1 litre spray bottle of water.

It is also a good idea to have a an assisitant to help with this installation - to hold the film while you peel the backing sheet off and spray with shampoo/water mix.

Spray the window throughly so that the film will 'slip' easily. Install the film as per standard instructions, after positioning the film with the top edge just clear of the window frame (about 2mm), spray plenty of shampoo/water mix on the back of the film so the squeegee will 'slip' easily on the film

Note: opaque film has a rough/textured surface to the outside, so you may need to re-wet the surface regularly for the squeegee to to keep 'slipping' on the surface, otherwise the squeegee may "dig" into the film - if unsure you may find it easier to 'drag' the squeegee rather than pushing it, this method removes a little less water, but has less risk of damaging the film - the film may take a day or two longer to dry.

Starting on the top edge in the centre, squeegee across to one side, then repeat to other side (all squeegee action should be from centre to side) - squeegee a few times on one side, then the other, gradually working your way down to the bottom of the section - trim off excess film as per instructions.

Squeegee the film and trim off excess film - using a bump card or similar (an old credit card or similar will suffice) wrapped in paper towel, progressively work your way around the window drying the 25mm (1") edge of the film.

Just take your time and all should go well. The film will be about 90% dry within a day and be fully bonded within 2 - 3 weeks. Any "air" bubbles that were missed during installation may be "pricked" in the centre with a sharp blade, and using a 'bump card', the "air" can be worked towards the centre.
